Anytime Learning @ WCPS
During the 2020-2021 school year, Washington County Public Schools decided to create an all virtual learning experience to meet the needs of students who were either not accessing instruction through blended learning or who needed specific credits. This specialized school allowed students enrolled to complete learning at their own pace at their own time. I was hired to design and teach Art 1 in addition to my normal teaching requirements. Both semesters, I was assigned a group of high school students needing an art credit for graduation. Some of my students were at the vocational school and needed an art credit or who students who had previously failed art and needed to retake it for graduation.
For the course, I designed units of study, projects, materials, and assessments that students could complete at home in a virtual setting. I would meet with each student at least once a week to complete a check-in. During our check-ins, students would fill me in on their learning, ask questions, and work through any difficulties.
Attached are examples of lessons and resources created for AL@WCPS.
